In recent years, the landscape of cannabis production in Canada has undergone significant change. With innumerable diagnostic and research applications being presented every day, the conversation has taken a turn as the nation moves towards legalization. Alongside the huge undertaking of legalization, is the appropriate and systematic regulation of production, such as that presented in the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposed Regulations (ACMPR) as well as the Pest Control Products Act (PCPA).
With exponential growth occurring in this industry, there are a number of logistical concerns to be addressed at all stages of the process. Cedarlane is proud to be at the front of this discussion, offering a wide range of products and tools for plant culture, sample preparation, quality control and much more! Analytical Standards (Compound & Chemicals), Phytocannabinoids, Pesticides, Terpenes
Phytocannabinoids: More than 100 structurally and physiologically distinct cannabinoid compounds are unique to plants of the genus Cannabis, known collectively as phytocannabinoids. Cayman Chemical offers authentic reference standards for the most prominent of these phytocannabinoids, as well as their metabolites. Cayman Chemical presents you with the basics of the biosynthesis and degradation of phytocannabinoids derived from olivetol, varinol, and orcinol origin and explain the conventions that have been adopted for nomenclature and structural numbering systems.
Cannabinoid Receptors: The cannabinoid (CB) receptors are two of the most widely expressed GPCRs in the body. When coupled to Gi/o proteins their activation can negatively regulate adenylate cyclase and/or positively regulate MAPK signaling. Conversely, when coupled through Gs proteins, CB1 activation promotes adenylate cyclase signaling. CB1 also modulates a host of ion channels through Gi/o coupling including A-type inwardly rectifying potassium channels (IRK) and N-type and P/Q-type calcium channels (Cav2.2, Cav2.1). The two major functions of these receptors are neuromodulatory, inhibiting neurotransmitter release through retrograde signaling, and immunomodulatory, regulating cytokine release and immune cell migration.
Pre-Made Mixtures: A quantitative 10-analyte mixture for the simultaneous detection of prevalent cannabinoids found in Cannabis. Contains (250 μg/ml of each compound): Δ8-Tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ8-THC) ; Δ9 Tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC) ; Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid A (THCA-A) ; Cannabidiol (CBD) ; Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA) ; Cannabidivarin (CBDV) ; Cannabinol (CBN) ; Cannabigerol (CBG) ; Cannabigerolic Acid (CBGA) ; (±)-Cannabichromene (CBC)
Microbiology Quality Control Strains
Commercial firms and research laboratories look to ATCC to provide top-quality microbial strains needed to maintain outstanding quality control programs for instruments, reagents, media, etc. To help aid in the rapid identification of microbial strains, ATCC now provides the same trusted quality control strains in a convenient, single-use, “mini” format that saves precious time and resources. ATCC Minis are a six pack of glass-free cryovials containing ready-to-use strains in glycerol stock, complete with peel-off labels for fast and reliable recordkeeping. Further, similar to their lyophilized counterparts, ATCC Minis are backed by polyphasic testing to establish identity, viability, and purity, and are maintained using a seed stock system to minimize subculturing.
To provide convenient reference materials for fast, accurate microbial identification using the VITEK 2 system, ATCC has expanded its collection of quality control strains to include bacterial and fungal isolates in the ATCC Minis frozen format.
