  • Description

Cedarlane’s anti-rat CD11b/c monoclonal antibody recognizes most macrophages including resident peritoneal macrophages, kupffer cells, but only approximately 35% of alveolar macrophages (2). It also labels dendritic cells extensively, granulocytes and cells with morphology of microglia in the brain. It precipitates three polypeptides of M.W. 160, 103 and 95kDa. OX-42 inhibits complement mediated rosettes and is probably the rat equivalent of the human receptor for iC3b called CR3. Cedarlane’s anti-rat CD11b/c mAb should prove useful in the recognition of macrophages and microglia.
This clone is reported to work with frozen and paraffin sections (3); in vivo and in vitro functional tests (4, 5, 6); and cryostat sections (5).

    Flow Cytometry Analysis
Wistar rat peritoneal macrophages were stained with anti-CD11b/c (clone: OX-42) (filled histogram) or mouse IgG2a isotype control (open histogram).
